Grassland Creation & Restoration Training Course

Date: Thursday 13 November
Location: PAA Offices, Buxton, Derbyshire
Facilitator: Penny Anderson
Fee £110 /concessions £85 including lunch

This day will look at diversifying existing grasslands and creating new ones, examining optimising their value – small or large, urban or rural, connected or acting as stepping stones, and their role in landscape scale restoration. We will also consider their value to various animals, such as species needing to move with climate change, or for supporting robust butterfly populations.

The UK supports a wide range of grasslands types, but how many can be realistically restored? This event will consider project planning as well as methods, such as evaluating site conditions, present or expected vegetation, soils, hydrology, natural colonisation, seed/propagule/plant source and proportions. The process of restoration will be explored through a mixture of lectures and workshops with time for questions related to your projects.

Flora locale is committed to promoting and supporting good practice in ecological restoration projects.
